When is my bin day?

How it works

Bins in Lewes district are emptied by Environment First, the waste service run for Lewes District Council and Eastbourne Borough Council. When you look up your postcode, LewesGo asks Environment First for the addresses there and, once you choose yours, for its next collection days and its collection calendar. The dates are theirs; we only make them easier to find.

Add to my phone's calendar subscribes your phone to the official calendar for your collection round. It includes the changes the council makes around bank holidays and Christmas, and most phones will remind you the evening before each collection. If the council updates the calendar, your phone picks up the change.

Since February 2026, rubbish has been collected every other week in Lewes district, so check which week you are on before you put your bin out. Bins should be out by 6am on collection day.

Other bin services

• Report a missed bin
• Order a new or replacement bin
• Bank holiday collection changes
• The council's bins and recycling pages

Your address and privacy

We send your postcode, and then the address you choose, to Environment First to find your collection days. We do not keep your address: the answers are stored on our server for a few hours so the next person on your street gets them quickly, without anything that identifies you. If you tick "Remember my address on this phone", it is saved only in your phone's browser, and you can untick it at any time. See our privacy notice.
