How the daily puzzles work
New selections appear according to the UK date. A puzzle you begin just before midnight will not change underneath you: refresh the page after midnight to load the new day's selection. Each mini crossword is a small, self-contained word game. Enter single letters into the boxes, read the numbered clues, and use Check answers whenever you want to see how many letters are right. You can clear the crossword and try again.
For the quiz, choose Easy, Normal or Challenge, then Play timed quiz when you are ready. There are five questions, each with four possible answers. You get ninety seconds from the moment you begin. The timer ends the game automatically when it reaches zero, or you can finish early. Your score shows how many of the five you got right. Refreshing the page ends the current game, so finish before moving elsewhere.
The games are designed for fun, not competition. They do not ask for names, emails, passwords or payment details. We do not record who played or save individual answers. General website analytics, where enabled, follow the choices explained in our privacy notice. If you notice an error in a clue or question, please use the contact page so it can be corrected.
